Dust Control on Dirt Roads of Qeshm Island

Pilot Project for Soil Stabilization on the Access Road to Salt Caves Using Stabilizing Agent Named Locust Veil
Client: Qeshm Free Zone Organization

About the Project

As Qeshm Island is registered as the only Geopark in the Middle East within the Global Geoparks Network (GGN), one of the crucial issues is the accessibility roads to Geopark areas. Due to limitations on using asphalt in these regions, one of the best alternatives to asphalt is the use of soil stabilizing agents like "Locust Veil." This method, besides being cost-effective compared to conventional asphalt, is advantageous in terms of time, ease of implementation, and most importantly, environmental compatibility.

Raadan Services:

In collaboration with the Technical and Infrastructure Deputy of Qeshm Free Zone, approximately one kilometer from the beginning of the dirt road leading to the Salt Caves was selected for the pilot project. Sampling and necessary tests were conducted along the route to determine the suitable stabilizing agent for the local soil and the intended road. Based on the test results, Locust Veil 2400 was identified as the appropriate option for stabilizing the dirt roads on Qeshm Island. Accordingly, an estimate for the implementation of this solution was provided by Raadan Niru Zagros Company for a 20-kilometer access road project.
